My first ever Bike.... Yeah thats right, my first ever Bike at the age of 26. I had this crush on Bikes that too on Yamaha since when... since when... I don't remember since when.. Sorry about that. Could be long enough that I forgot when it actually started. But I had this desire to own a bike.
Ever since I was a kid the only ride I had was a BSA SLR bicycle. That too a one which was meant for girls. My father is a person who does anything for us. He used to spend 90% of his earnings on our education and expenses. But he was never able to buy me a new bicycle. As a result I had to compromise a little on the style part and a little on the "new" part. I never complained. I used to ride it as if I was riding a BMW. Used to try all those little tricks. Used to handle as if I was operating a missile. Used to Wash it every weekend. Used to take it even to my cousin's home which is the very next door. Never thought about a bike at all. That time a couple of my school mates used to come to school in bikes. I used to think that bikes were not meant for me at all.
Years passed. I was in college, still I can't believe that I have studied in an engineering college which was only a dream for me an year ago. Then I sold my bicycle at a cost of 300 Rs. For four years of engineering I was always walking for anything and everything happily saying that walking is good for health.
At those times it was Yamaha which was ruling every street in the city. Every time an Yamaha crossed me I have told to myself "I will ride it one day!!". I used to watch those bikes till they disappear from my sight. Once My friend offered me a ride in his then new Yamaha RX100. He helped me to ride that bike for the first time. With much curiosity/struggle I managed to cover a distance of one and a half kilo meter in nearly 20 minutes. He told me that I will be good at bikes. He never showed up with his bike again. Then I happened to ride a couple of bikes without letting my friends know the no of times I nearly killed their bikes.
Now it was almost a decade later, I have been working in a "Not Known to Many" Software company for almost 2+ years now. I was in need of a ride, thanks to my company for not providing any transport. I did have money to buy a new bike. I was eyeing at this Apache RTR or a pulsar. But having damaged Mani's (Colleague) Pulsar once on a traffic-less road was threatening me even to utter the word Pulsar. Then this long forgotten Yamaha stroke me as if there is no other bike left out in the world. Then with a little search and patience I got this used bike through some of my father's friends.
I got this Bike Yamaha RX135 The Speed Machine at a price of 25 K Indian money couple of months ago. I take it everyday to my office. It is better than the one which my friend was having. I can invest money on that to alter it anyway i want it. It is parked outside of my home where I can easily see that through my window.
Today it is with me. Only for me to ride it. But I am not sure whether I am riding it with the same joy I had while riding a BSA SLR bicycle I used to own a decade ago....
