Sometime in last week I was about to return home after completing my tasks a little too early. I felt a little hungry and exhausted. So thought about stopping by a juice shop or something. I invited my friend on my way back to go with me to have some snacks. We went to this HotChips restaurant. We managed to get a table for ourselves. As we were ordering our food I started to realize that we were actually upgrading our snacks to a supper. We ordered for the food, we got few minutes to chat in the meantime. We were chatting about some absolutely useless topic to pass the time.

In a few minutes we got our order served and we started tasting our food. As we were eating there was a man who entered the restaurant. At first I didn't notice him well. As he progressed in to the restaurant I saw him clearly. He was a foreign guy probably an English. He didn't look like a tourist. I noticed few things about him. He was wearing a slipper, something a native chennai guy would wear. His skin was tanned a lot. He looked like a guy who is been out there in chennai for decades. I found something quite strange about him. He stood there looking for a table. All the tables were half filled, he hesitated a second then he sat in a table near to us. He seemed to be quite interesting. So I was watching him his activities.

The waiter approached him and he gave him a mineral water bottle. He politely refused and asked for normal water. The waiters were giving weird look on his back. Because It is really strange. I have never seen a foreign guy who goes for an ordinary water instead of mineral. Then he looked at the menu. I was getting curious with every seconds passing. He ordered for the food. The waiter took the order with a weird look and left. I was kinda expecting more surprises so still watching him. Then it happened. He was served the rava dosa and a bowl full of sambar. Well I thought for a while and hissed "Welcome to India" buddy. As I expected he was eating the rava dosa with a spoon and fork. I laughed to myself, whatever happens, few things will never change.

He ate the rava dosa without using the sambar at all then he started to drink that sambar like a soup.. I was kinda speechless. By this time he has noticed me staring at him, cracking jokes about him. Though he couldn't able to understand any, he figured out that we were talking about him. Few minutes later I gave up pestering him and started eating my food. Then I just raised my head to see him staring at me. He was giving me a funny look. I have no clue of what was so funny. I didn't really get it. I was kinda embarrassed. I was hoping that the guy should leave soon. Because I couldn't really feel comfortable. I couldn't eat at all. So I turned and pretended that I was talking
to my friend. Luckily he left in a hurry after paying the Bill. I relaxed myself, finished off my supper and I was about to leave.

As we started to leave I looked back at my table in the hope of seeing something funny. At the least I will get the hint why that guy gave me a funny look. Then I realized, I could not stop myself from laughing. Because I was eating a Mushroom PIZZA. A foreign guy who was eating rava dosa was funny to me whereas me eating a PIZZA was funny to him.

I learnt something on that day. Not to eat PIZZA when these guys are around !!!!!.
